University Vision Fund
Continuing the tradition of encouraging visionary,
experimental, and creative ideas leading to the improvement of teaching and learning at
Syracuse University.
The University Vision Fund was established in 1999 to continue the
Syracuse University tradition of encouraging visionary, experimental, and creative ideas, leading to
the improvement of teaching and learning. This annual grant program reflects the recommendation of
the Middle States accreditation self-study (p.101):
...The University community must be free to experiment, to take risks,
and even to abandon comfortable old ways to pursue aggressively new "best practices." Innovations
or experiments often have start-up costs. If a discretionary fund—call it the University Vision
Fund—or other form of one-time-only budget supplement were available to cover new or setup
expenses that units incur as they move forward, the process of achieving the vision would be
accelerated.
