PLANNING COMMITTEE -04/20/98

ALL UNIVERSITY STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES ASSESSMENT COMMITTEE

Planning Committee Meeting

April 20, 1998

We began by discussing how we could set the context for the all AUSLAOC meeting on April 30th. We have to reach some consensus on terminology (e.g., outcomes, expectations, goals, aims, requirements). We need to acknowledge all the angles of vision, all the lenses, and all the perspectives related to assessment. We have to determine if the current organization of sub-committees is the right structure for AUSLOAC.

We should pose three questions to the sub-committees:

In conducting the sub-committee discussions, reporting back to the full committee, and communicating outside of meetings we want to model a collaborative, participatory approach where many voices are heard so that we can build a feeling of ownership among all committee members.

The agenda from the day is:
8:30 Refreshments
9:00 Welcome, overview of themes and issues, charge for the day
9:45 Break into sub-committees to discuss the three questions
12:00 Lunch
12:30 Discuss the sub-committee responses to the three questions
2:00 Break with refreshments
2:15 Drawing conclusions and setting a direction for next year
4:00 End of day
