Before You Begin
Recently you took a brief math test to see if you had the specific mathematics skills that are required in introductory courses such as chemistry, economics, political science, and psychology. Your test results showed that you should review these skills, and we suggest reviewing them early in the course to maximize your chances for success. Most of the information in this book will be familiar to you, but you may not have seen it in a while and may need to review it.
