Curtis plays blues harp with ....

the Westcott Jug Suckers with Colin Aberdeen, a double SAMMY Award (Syracuse Are Music Awards) winner.

Curtis began playing harmonica with Kelly James, AKA Too Bad James, as a duo back in the '80s, then in the early '90s with Austin Jimmy Murphy and the Blues Kings. For about five years Curtis was a member of Miss E's band and is on two cuts of her new CD It's about Time. From time to time he'll play a gig with Miss E. Curtis has been a member of the Westcott Jug Suckers for about six years, has played duos with Miss E, Tom Olson, and Jane Zell.

Curtis style is unique: they don't call him sweet for nothing. Colin describes his style as a "higher math" thing.

BLUES BITES
Jose "El Chico" Alvarez plays guitar with a jazz feel but a blues sensibility with Los Bloncos on For Sale by Owner (Doctor K 1951-2), offering uptown chords with thick voicing and choice fills. Alvarez is spotless on "El Ciempies," his Latin-jazz original. The band does soul, funk and straight blues well, but Alvarez shines in his jazzier role. Best cut: James Booker's "Unco Partner," a Zydeoc-style romp with blazing harp from Curtis Waterman.
